Blue Mounds is beautiful close-knit community located in the southwest corner of Dane County bordering Iowa County. Blue Mounds is named because of the two blue hills that are the highest hills in Southern Wisconsin region. The hills look blue from certain distances away. Blue Mounds offers the best of small town life and easy access to outdoor activities.
Blue Mounds is conveniently nestled between Blue Mounds State Park and Brigham County Park. Some outdoor activities include having the Military Ridge State Trail running through the Village,the Cave of the Mounds and the highest point in southern Wisconsin. Some nearby attractions are Tyrol Basin Ski and Snowboard Area, Little Norway, and The Blue Mounds Fort historical site.
Blue Mounds is a small community located 25 miles from the State Capital in Madison, WI on US Highway 18/151. Milwaukee is approximately 108 miles to the east, Chicago is about 178 miles southeast and the Twin Cities are 266 miles to the northwest.
